i think it depends on how many hours you will be staying. set your per hour rate, at say, $10/hr. if babysitting for only a short time on a non-regular basis, charge more and if babysitting on a regular basis for longer periods of time, charge less.

it depends on the family. I usually charge about 5-10 dollars an hour per child. But depending on the familys situation i may charge less or for younger kids or sick kids i may charge more.

i say 5 dollars an hour. cuz i was a baby sitter , but it all counts on how many kids there are.

$10-$15 per hour is the going rate in my area (Sacramento, California) but it depends on your experience, how many kids you're watching and if you're expected to perform additional duties like cleaning, cooking, carpooling. Charge what you're worth and once the parents see what a good job you do with their kids they won't hesitate to pay your rate. Find out what the parent expects from you and let them know you work on a sliding scale depending on the expectation. The more you do, the more you should be paid.
