Anybody knows a decent adult day care facility in Los Angeles for senior for 4-5 hours daily?

My uncle is 82 years old, he has no terminal illness, just moderate Alzheimer's. I am looking for a facility, where I can take him, for a couple hours daily, where he can socialize with Others, watch TV etc., eat lunch. He can not stay home alone, because his bones are fragile. Any idea on what is the cost? Thanks

I would recommend you to try yahoo yellow pages for adult care places, if unsuccesful, you could contact local clinics or nursing homes and their social workers could give you ideas, lastly any local senior centers could give you some names. Costs will of course vary from place to place, good luck

How do I make my own pet-sitting organization or pet care services?

How do I make my own pet-sitting organization? Like where to make it how to start it, will it work? I am turning 15 in 5 days.

Do you have to include babysitting income on a tax return?

My wife did some on and off babysitting for a local mother. Total income might be around $800 – $1000, but I am not sure and the lady didn't do any type of W2. Now the lady wants to write off money paid for babysitting, but I didn't include it in my return.

Your spouse would have to give her SSN, name, and address to the mother, and a written statement as to how much money was paid. Figure out how much was paid, don't let the mother figure it out or you may find yourself owing more tax if the mOther overstates the amount paid on her return.

Then, you'll have to amend your return and add the income, using a Schedule C. If the children were in your home, then you may have additional deductions for the use of your home.

With this amount of income, hopefully you can get the net profit down below $400 and owe no Social Security or Medicare taxes.

Where can i learn about adult day care laws?

i need somewhere to find information on operating an adult day care center for seniors..preferably illinois

Try the State Department of Human Services. This is the office that usually handles licensing of Child day care centers and adult care too. They know all of the state laws and they can mail you a thick packet with everything that you need to know.

How do I start a Pet Day Care Service or Pet Walking Service?

I really love animals and would love to start a pet sitting service or pet walking service ? Anyone know how to start it up?

It is tough starting out but post signs on bulletin boards in stores, vet offices, parks. Place ads in the classified under the pet listings. Go door to door to known pet owners and leave them flyer's. Once you can get established, hopefully the pet owners will talk to Others and word of mouth will get you a thriving business.

Does babysitting younger siblings count as job experience on a resume?

Yes, I got paid for babysitting.
I am 18 and have no prior work or volunteer experience besides the babysitting of my two younger siblings.

I think if you have no Other job experience, you should. I baby sat my siblings all the time. So when I applied for a job at 16, I put it down under previous work history. I put my parents name as employer. When they interviewed me they asked the typical previous employment questions. What were my duties while baby sitting. What I liked most about baby sitting.

Elder Day Care?

How can I start a pet sitting home-based business?

If you have a dog and you had to leave town for about a month on a business trip and couldn't bring your dog what would you truthfully do? Would you call a pet-sitting business?

How can I get customers?

I have in the past. However, I prefer the pet-sitter to come to my home and feed my dog, take her for a walk, etc..

You really need to network. Talk to the people you know that have pets, offer the service. Talk to your vet — they probably get a lot of requests. Once you've been able to do this service for a few people, let them know you're always looking for new customers. If they are satisfied with your performance, they will recommend you to friends.

I am babysitting and I want to make a good impression what should I do?

I am babysitting a 9 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. I've never babysat them before but I have babysat kids ages 2-11 for the past year. I want them to like me so I can babysit again what should I do to make a first impression on the kids and the parents?

Ok, first of all, show up a half and hour yearly. This gives you time to ask the parents questions, get a tour of the house, get to know the kids, and find out all emergency phone numbers. Be mature and calm around the kids, and try and get them to like you. If you get the children on your good side, they tend to ask their parents if they can have you again.

On anOther note, wear something comfortable, yet still nice looking. It is very similar to a job interview, and you don't want to show up in a gunky tee-shirt and ripped jeans. A clean, nice looking shirt and a pair of jeans would look nice.

This is a really good trick that I have learned after a while. Bring a bag of toys and books the kids might like, and maybe even some age appropriate movies. BIG impressive move toward parents, and the kids automatically ADORE you.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THINGS ARE CLEAN BEFORE THE PARENTS COME HOME!

Good luck! :)

I'm looking for job for my mother who is a nurse and wants to take care of 1 senior citizen and has housing

Put an ad in your local newspaper. That might be the easiest way. An ad on community bulletin boards in local businesses, the library, post office, etc. might also bring some results. Go to the employment center – they usually have notice boards with jobs listed. I hope these thoughts help.

What are some good ways to advertise a pet sitting buisness?

I have just started my pet business, and I am trying to find more places to advertise, I've already hit websites like craigslist, pet-sitters.biz, and dog geek, however I would like some more websites or any Other ways to get my pet sitting business known. If you have any ideas please post them here, your replies will be greatly appreciated!

Go around your area and put fliers in mailboxes. Also, posters or a paper with phone number tabs at all the area grocery stores or places that have bulletin boards.

If even one or two people take you up on it, the word will get out.

At least these forms of advertisements don't cost a thing.

OH! Pet stores! Sometimes they let you put up fliers.

How much should I charge for daycare in my home?

$6-8 sounds about right to me for your age and experience.

How can I start a successful tutoring business?

I'm a high school senior that is trying to start a math tutoring business. How can I make it a success and make it well known around the community?

Hello,

Great post. The most important part of business is advertising. This makes or breaks a business. Some of the best ways to advertise I've found are:

1. Offline promoting (business cards, flyers, newspaper and Other print advertising).
2. Online promoting (buying banner ads, forum posts, email auto replies).

The best method that's worked for me so far is handing out business cards. I don't do this in the usual way…. I buy them in bulk from a place online (they give the cards for free, I just paid shipping and handling…they also give a really nice free business card holder, it looks impressive). They're really high quality. I just put all of the info about my business on the cards, and I hand them out on cars at bus stations, malls, etc. It's worked out really, really well for me, and it's completely inexpensive =)

How to respond to people who don't understand homeschooling special needs children?

I am homeschooling my son who has PDD. We are relaxed about our homeschooling. It is not like i can say that we do this subject at this time and this subject at that time. I can say that i have homeschooled my older daughter- who has developmental issues, since we pulled her from school after first grade- she is now 17 and she has made amazing progress. Other people have noticed it as well.
Now with my younger son, somehow i am getting questions and comments from people that are along the lines of, what do I plan on DOING with him- how long is he going to stay home doing 'nothing' when he can be in a special school where there are special ed teachers who can help him, and blah blah blah.
What do I say to this? How do I even begin talking to these totally ignorant people about the subject of homeschooling children with Special Needs?
In additon to having some tips on what to say, i'd appreciate being pointed to some good articles on the advantages of hsing special needs children
The last person who did this was someone whom my husband and i approached to ask him to tutor our son in a subject that we felt we weren't able to teach our son ourselves. He ended up calling and telling me that our son needs a lot more than JUST his tutoring, and basically gave me the old 'it's not good for him to just be home…' routine.
Well, as you all might have predicted, the tutor did not work out. We're on the lookout for another tutor now. I wish there was some way to 'smell' whether a potential tutor is going to 'give me the business' about homeschooling before he/she gets hired, but my feeling is it's often they just smile and nod their head at the initial interview because they want to get hired, and when they get the job they feel more free to tell you their two cents because they're already involved with your child and feel that it's now their business.
I extended the question so i can hear more good thoughts on the subject. I hope to come back to 'pick best answer' but if i dont make it back online on time, let me just say 'thank you all'

I'm sorry you have to face this. There are some people in this world who seem to think they have all the answers, even when they don't know the situation. Aargh!

If you feel you need to answer their "concerns", just say something like, "We've made a decision based on what is best for our family", then change the subject. If they persist, tell them firmly that you really don't want to discuss it any further – it is your decision and it was not made lightly. If they can't accept this, maybe it's time to cut them out of your life and find friends who are more supportive of your decision (and your child's needs).

Temporary care for senior citizen?

My sister and brother-in-law would like to go on some short trips, but care for my elderly father who can't travel. Where can they find affordable care for him if they want to leave town for a few days?
I should have mentioned that they live clear across the country, or we would be glad to have him. They don't have any relatives in their immediate area.

If Other family members are unable to care for your father; then you can look for "respite care" in your community. In the US, look for your Local Area Agency on Aging, this group can refer you to services in your area.

Post flyers at Veterinarian's offices, local animal rescues, animal control, grocery store bulliten boards, most petstores have bulliten boards, and groomers. Good luck in your new venture.

What should I wear to my job interview for a housekeeping position?

I have a job interview tomorrow for a Housekeeping position at a hotel and have seriously no idea what to wear. I have more corporate type clothing but I feel that is majorly over dressing. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance guys.

Why is it over dressing? At any job interview, you are judged on not only how you respond to interview questions, but also on your appearance. It doesn't matter if you're applying for a job as a bank teller or a janitor….look professional, neat and clean. That means men should wear a nice business suit, slacks/shirt and tie, etc. and women a suit, dress, skirt and blouse, etc. Right now with unemployment rates as high as they are there is serious competition for employment. Do what it takes to be the one that makes the best impression.

How hard is babysitting an infant (ten month old)?

I'm babysitting a ten month old boy today, and I've been like a mOther's helper for babies (I'm 13) but this is my first time actually babysitting a littler baby. Any tips?

They move around a lot. Make sure you ask the mom about food and snacks and nap time. Also ask what kind of videos they can watch. Just make sure you always keep an eye on him. Do not let them out of your site.

Have fun with him!
Good luck.

How much to charge for individual tutoring?

I want to tutor introductory science classes, but I have no idea how much a person in my position would charge. I have a BS degree in Molecular, Cellular, & Developmental Biology with honors. Additionally, I am an MD, PhD student at a top-ranked medical school. I have lots of experience tutoring classes. Anyone know how much is a good rate for individual tutoring?

I would charge at least $30 an hour. If it is a more difficult subject, such as ochem or calculus I would charge $50.

Can a child in special needs get kicked out of tutoring for behavior?

My son was recently excused from tutoring saying he is a distraction to the other students while tutoring. I don't think they can do this. He is in Special Needs and I think they should take other measures to help him since he's failing the subject he's tutoring in. Anyone who knows anything about this please let me know.

You really need to refer to his IEP first. See what modifications are in there already… Does he have a 1:1 aide? Does he have a behavior plan that should already be implemented? IF, for example, the current teachers/instructors are not responding to his behavior as designated by his IEP, then you should make sure they are following that. SO, I would review his IEP and collaborate with the school/teachers as to what is going on.

Secondly, they can do that if he is a disruption to others who are trying to learn. See it from the others' view (or the other parents).

BUT, in saying that, it shouldn't be a long-term solution. He should be in an environment that suits both his and other students needs. So, ultimately, if it is appropriate for him to be tutored 1:1 without Other students present, then implement that as best practice. If it benefits him to be with others, then collaborate with the team and agree (with help from a behavior specialist) about an appropriate intervention or behavior plan that addresses the situation.

In general, be pro-active, know your son's IEP, and collaborate with your son's child study team (work together, not against).
